I think it would be important to mention that this site caters primarily to the South African investor as there seems to be a lack of sites with investment content aimed at a South African investor. However, that does not mean you will not derive value out of this site if you are not South African.

Everyone needs investment advice. Now more than ever. After one of the biggest crashes in history, we've had one of the best market recoveries in history. Unfortunately, some people have lost most of their fortunes in the crash and have not been able to make it back in the recovery. If you were close to retirement and had most of your money in equities, you probably won't be able to make your money back. If you're still young, there's a chance that the crash won't affect you too much in the long run. For more advice on investing, click on one of the links below to go to our investing page. Billionaire of the Month

Johann Peter Rupert

Johann Rupert has long been at the forefront of South African and international business and economic development. Rupert and his family (Compagnie Financiere Rupert) have business interests which include a 9.1% stake in Compagnie Financiere Richemont, 6 867 150 shares in Remgro and 47 908 782 in Reinet Investments SCA. It was a bit tricky to calculate the value of the Richemont holding as the only information available is that the holding which consists of class "B" unlisted shares constitute 9.1% of the equity. Based on the September 2012 interim financials I estimate this holding to be worth just over R9 bil. Together with the other 2 company holdings, this gives a listed net worth of just under R17 bil. Forbes estimates his total net worth as at March 2012 to be $5.1 bil. This value must include other investments overseas and unlisted investments as well as property and other private assets.

Even though this book is a bit old, it is still a fascinating read about the Wal-mart story. This is a great read for anyone who is in the retail business especially if you're competing with another business or looking to expand. There's a lot of business insight and ideas to be gained from this book. It's also a must-read for any budding entreprenuer as I'm sure you will find a lot of motivation in the Sam Walton story.
